5th Competition:

The German Clarinet Association founded the Clarinet Competition in 2021 with the initiative of Travis Meisner.

The German Clarinet Association wants to promote students to excell in their musical journey to become professional clarinet players. On a high standard the teenagers can show their musical abilities and impress the jury every year again with their fantastic play.

The Jury consists of Prof. Johannes Gmeinder (Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy” Leipzig), Michael Schmidt from the Staatstheater Darmstadt and Travis W. Meisner of the Wetzlar musicschool. The 4th Juror will be Prof. Georg Arzberger (Hochschule für Musik und Theater München) who will teach a masterclass on the third day of the competition.

The candidates will show their solo performances in the first round, the second round focuses on a piece of chamber music which will be performed with professional musicians. This pieces will also be performed at the concert.
